Denmark’s election process is underway as voters choose members of the 179-seat parliament, Folketing. A total of 12 parties participate in the election, with unofficial results expected to be announced during the night.
In Denmark, an EU member, voters went to the polls today to select their parliamentary representatives. The voting started at 08.00 local time and will continue until 20.00. The election features 12 parties, and a party reaching 90 seats in the parliament can form a majority government.
Leading candidates include the Social Democratic Party’s leader and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, aiming for her third victory in this election, and the Danish Liberal Party (Venstre) leader and Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, who are among the prominent contenders.
Additionally, two representatives from Greenland and the Faroe Islands—autonomous regions affiliated with the Kingdom of Denmark—will also enter the parliament.
Unofficial results are expected to be announced during the night.
